2010 World Championships
Team Characteristics
Talented team with ability to score quickly. Prefer a full court game but are efficient in half court also. Control the boards with all five players active on the glass. Want to beat opponent down the floor as often as possible. Scoring comes from all positions and from bench. Athletic ability and quickness give them an advantage on both ends.
Offensive Tendencies
Scoring is based on speed, quickness, and penetration. Spacing allows isolations and two man games as weak side players spot up. All players can post up and posts are effective at getting to the rim with angles. Good mix of ball and player movement in the half court. Solid shooting team that plays within itself for the most part. Take advantage of mismatches on perimeter and in the post. Very good with penetration to the paint and finish well at the rim. Many weapons make it difficult for the opponent to put together stops. Aggressive going to offensive glass and pick up a lot of points there.
Transition
The best part of their offensive attack is transition. Score a third of their points off the break. Defensive rebounds and quick outlets lead to numbers advantage on the other end. Post do good job of outletting ball to ball handlers who use few dribbles to advance the ball up the floor. Posts get out and run to the rim for easy baskets. Priority is attacking the rim but will take open shots off break. Good at going after the missed shot in transition leading to put backs.
Set Plays
1. 1-4 isolation with point guard penetration and dish to open wing for shot

2. Inside triangle set. Opposite post flashes for hi/low look, ball reversal and post feed

Out of Bounds
Use a variety of alignments including three across the baseline, stacks, and spread. First option is shooter off screen, with posts sealing for second option pass. Will look to lob and flash gaps if possible. Inbounds passer can step in and catch for shot.
Zone Offense
Basic 3 out/2 in high low alignment. Posts cover high and low post as well as short corners. Good ball movement yields good shots. Rebound well our of zone offense also.
Defense Tendencies
Use quickness, speed, and length to challenge offense. 2-2-1 on make and missed baskets with good pressure on ball. May run and jum and trap at midcourt and sideline spots. Good shot blockers allow perimeter to exert pressure all over the floor. Good rebounding team on defensive glass.
