    Lithuania Men 17
    2010 World Championships

    Team Characteristics
Multi-talented and versatile team. All players possess good ball skills and are proficient passers, ball handlers, and shooters. Play a very unselfish game on offense and make the extra pass to ensure a good shot. Transition benefits from these ball skills as any player can start the break on the dribble. Active, quick and very team oriented group with many weapons on offense and switching defenses on other end.

    Offensive Tendencies
Constant motion and hard cutting are anchors to their half court offense. Goal is to spread floor and reverse ball as cutters fill open spots on floor as shooter spot us. Posts play inside/outside setting lots of on ball screens. Will then dive to post or step back for shot or ball reversal. Use a mix of set plays and half court motion. Do good job of executing set plays and work hard for the best shot possible.

    Transition
Score at  high rate in transition. Convert turnovers to baskets quickly. Any of perimeter players can bring ball up the floor on the dribble. Do a good job of finding the open man ahead of them on the break. Will shoot open jump shot but want to get all the way to the rim as first priority. If no good shot available they transfer quickly into half court offense.

    Set Plays
    1. Wing entry, dive cut off screen, weak side down screen, on ball screen for shot
    2. Double high post set, post pop pass, point gets flare screen for shot.
    3. Wing entry, point cut through, ball reveral, point back screen for post cutting to rim

    Out of Bounds
Baseline plays are designed to screen for shooter to corner for a shot of hand back to inbounds passer. Will throw to opposite corner for shot. From the side they will get ball in and go into half court offense.

    Zone Offense
Effient zone attack using all players as passers. Passers make pass and cut through the zone as posts fill high and low post. Post step out and on ball screen for perimeter players. Weak side players spot up for shot on ball reversal or skip. Constant movement by players and the ball create difficulties for the zone defense.

    Defense Tendencies
Quick hands and active feet help jar the ball loose on passes or penetration. Ball pressure creates excessive dribbling and poor passes by the opponent. Good size inside allows them to challenge shots in the paint. Can convert turnovers to easy baskets in transition.

    Zone Defense
Play out both a 2-3 and 1-2-2 set with match up characteristics. Very active on the ball and in passing lanes and will extend beyond the three point line to pressure ball or steal passes. Lots of movement, communication and switching in their zone package.
