FIBA Plus Basketball program on right track in Mozambique

MAPUTO (Mozambique) - A FIBA Africa delegation led by Jean Michel Ramaroson and board members of the Mozambique Basketball Federation (FMB) met last week to further develop and shape the FIBA Plus roadmap.
The three-day meeting from February 26-28 held at the Mozambique Olympic Committee headquarters brought together basketball stakeholders to brainstorm on customized ideas that will go a long way in shaping the path that will take them to the helm of African basketball.
"IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE AN EXECUTION PLAN OF THE VISION THAT THE FEDERATION PUT IN PLACE IN PHASE ONE. EVERY STAKEHOLDER IS ON BOARD AND THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO HARMONIZE OUR EFFORTS TO TAKE MOZAMBIQUE AND AFRICAN COUNTRIES TO THE VERY TOP."
This was aimed at discussing the Strategic Planning for FMB that will look to implement their roadmap and the targeted development of activities looking to solve their current challenges which include Coaching and Referee Education, Technical and Competition Structures, Governance, Organizational Effectiveness, Player Pathway, Infrastructure, Schools Basketball, Income Generation and Numbers of Players.
FIBA Africa President Anibal Manave who was also in attendance told FIBA.basketball that, "We need to continue working on this strategy because it will guide us to achieve the set objectives. We are glad that every stakeholder is on board and ready to work."
"It is very important to have an execution plan of the vision that the federation put in place in phase one. every stakeholder is on board and this is an opportunity to harmonize our efforts to take Mozambique and African countries to the very top."

Mozambique is among the top basketball nations in Africa especially for women's basketball where Ferroviario de Maputo are back-to-back FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup winners while their senior national team competed in the just concluded FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.
Mozambique represented Africa at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2019 in Thailand while the senior men's team has also been doing well at the FIBA AfroBasket.
Ferroviario de Maputo qualified for the inaugural Basketball Africa League and with this success, the FMB is confident that a lot more can be achieved in all categories.
The FIBA experts met with each department separately to thoroughly look at their plans and to devise means that are in line with their ultimate objectives.
