FIBA OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, MEN
TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This team relies on combination of solid play in every areas of the game. One areas is not their specialty of any others. Rounding is solid as is their shooting and zone defense. Will adapt as the game goes on and change up defenses and offensive strategy. Post are capable to score and make good passes to cutters or open shooters. Defensive transition is adequate which allows them to transition smoothly into half court man to man. Has to been solid in all areas to be as competitive as they want to be every night.
TRANSITION

Efficient transition game takes advantage of poor defensive transition. Stay within themselves and keep from unsure passes or shots. Scoring comes from point guard penetration to the basket, deep penetration and kick out and ball reversal and open shots. Point guard usually pushes ball down the middle and takes what the defense gives him.
OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

Getting the ball inside is a priority for most possessions. Posts will cut and flash from weak side, slide to gaps on penetration and post up strong. Very good getting angles in the post and getting to the rim and free throw line. When pressured, the ball is delivered to the perimeter with accuracy. Perimeter players think shot first, then use shot fake to go by defenders. Excellent screening and cutting team using down screens, on ball screens, and baseline screens.
SET PLAYS
- Cross
screen for post, ball reversal, on ball screen and roll.

- Baseline
screen, ball reversal, cutter reverses direction and comes off two
screens.

OB PLAYS

Use a combination of actions including stacks, screen the screener, and screen and roll. Cutters catch and shoot, post feed, or penetrate to score. Posts will screen and slip to the basket for quick catch and score.
DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Man to man is fundamentally based, limiting penetration and physical inside. Perimeter defenders apply good pressure to the ball to cause turnovers. Posts have the ability to block shots and rebound the ball on the defensive glass.
