    OMURA/NAGASAKI (24th FIBA Asia Championship for Women) - The logo for this summer's FIBA Asia Championship for Women has been unveiled.

    The marquee event will bring together the very best of Asia women's basketball between 21 and 28 August.

    Omura will play host to the 12 best national teams. Six teams will form the Elite Level I, from which the champions will be decided.

    The winners of the FIBA Asia Championship for Women will earn an automatic berth to the 2012 London Olympics.

    The teams finishing second and third will earn places in the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers.

    Six other teams will play in the Qualifying Level II with the top two attempting to earn promotion to next edition’s Level I.

    The logo of the FIBA Asia Championship for Women is a glorious amalgamation of women’s basketball and local rich culture of Omura, which is a castle town.

    The logo aims to express women’s basketball event and dignity, graciousness, and the cultural heritage of Japan with cherry blossom and pearl of Omura and Nagasaki.

    Light pink, the color of cherry blossom and pearl, and gold are the main theme colours depicting the local culture.

    The lines in four directions express the glow of pearl as well as the quickness and dynamic performance of female basketball with the figure of dribbling player.
