    MUNICH - FIBA Europe has officially ratified the status of VTB United League as an officially recognised organisation, during the meeting of its Executive Committee Wednesday, in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

    FIBA Europe had previously recognised the VTB League in 2011 but the decision was not confirmed, pending a letter of consent from the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB). This letter, together with renewed consent letters by all other federations with teams involved in the VTB United League were received this summer, paving the way for the full recognition of the League by FIBA Europe.

    The VTB also needs to be recognised by FIBA's Central Board as it includes a team from Kazakhstan.
