FIBA Ethics Panel member Ken Madsen inducted into Basketball Australia Hall of Fame

MELBOURNE - Basketball Australia (BA) recently held their 2017 Awards Night to honor those being inducted into the 2017 Basketball Australia Hall of Fame.

Among the distinguished players, coaches and contributors being inducted was FIBA Ethics Panel member, Ken Madsen.

Ken has a long history with FIBA, in addition to his current position on the Ethics committee, he has served as the President of the World Legal Commission for one four-year term and three terms as Deputy Chairman of the Commission. This commission looks after all legal matters including rules and regulations for the international game as well as its governance.

Madsen served on the Legal Commission for 38 years and was bestowed the FIBA Order of Merit in 2010 and has also been nominated for admission to the FIBA Hall of Fame.

Madsen was also honoured for his work in amending the FIBA Oceania constitution when, in 2015, he was the recipient of the Patricia Ramsay Award which pays tribute to work done for the betterment of FIBA in Oceania.

Madsen has also served Basketball in Australia for over 50 years, he began his career as a referee before acting as Chair of the Queensland Basketball Referees Association as well as Chair of the Australian National Basketball League Tribunal for 22 seasons.

He served as the BA Treasurer, representing BA on FIBA commissions while playing a delegate role on national tours and World Championships as well as Chairing the BA Honours and Awards Commission for fourteen years to earn life membership with BA and Basketball Queensland.

A true patriot of the game of basketball both within Australia and globally. FIBA would like to congratulate Madsen on his induction into the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame.
