    FIBA - Delegation in Turkey

    ISTANBUL (FIBA World Championship 2010) - FIBA Secretary General Patrick Bauman and FIBA Event Manager Predrag Bogosavlijev were part of a FIBA delegation which were visiting over the past three days several cities in Turkey in preparation of the next FIBA World Championship, which will take place in summer 2010 in the cities of Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul, and Izmir. The Turkish Basketball Federation was represented by its President Turgay Demirel as well as Emir Turam, Ali Ozsoy and Emin Balci

    ISTANBUL (FIBA World Championship 2010) - FIBA Secretary General Patrick Bauman and FIBA Event Manager Predrag Bogosavlijev were part of a FIBA delegation which were visiting over the past three days several cities in Turkey in preparation of the next FIBA World Championship, which will take place in summer 2010 in the cities of Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul, and Izmir.

    The Turkish Basketball Federation was represented by its President Turgay Demirel as well as Emir Turam, Ali Ozsoy and Emin Balci.

    On Monday the delegation met in Izmir with Mr. Sabri Sadiklar, the Sports Youth Director, and Mr. Aziz Basoglu, the Izmir Municipality Mayor.

    On Tuesday, Patrick Bauman and Turgay Demirel visited the new Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul. In the afternoon of that same day the delegation met with Melih Gokcek, the Ankara Municipality Mayor in Ankara, whilst Mr. Bogosavljiev met with Mr. Ali Deveci, the Antalya Municipality Secretary General in Antalya, where they also visited the construction site where the new arena is planned.

    The visit was concluded on Wednesday in Istanbul where the FIBA delegation had a chance to see Mr. Kadir Topbas, the Istanbul Municipality Mayor, Mr. Mehmet Ali Sahin, the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Mr. Mehmet Atalay, Sports & Youth General Directorate General Manager.

    The preparations for the FIBA World Championship in Turkey 2010 include the construction of new basketball arenas in the cities of Antalya, Ankara and Istanbul which should start at the end of 2007.
