MADRID (2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Another important step in the build-up to the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup was taken on Wednesday with the launch of the campaign to find the volunteers who will play key roles in making the tournament one of the biggest and best events in the history of basketball.
People interested in working as volunteers at FIBA's flagship event - which will take place in Spain from 30 August to 14 September 2014 - should go to http://www.fiba.basketball/pages/eng/fe/14/wcm/event-guide/p/volunteers.html where they can find out all the information they need and submit their application.
Signing up to be a part of the team of volunteers is a great chance to grow as a person and as a professional.
Anyone in Spain and around the world can apply to be a volunteer, not only the residents of the six host cities (Barcelona, Bilbao, Granada, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Madrid and Seville).
FIBA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for Spain 2014 want to put together the best group of volunteers possible. This will be a team forged by generosity, enthusiasm, motivation, kindness and diligence. This will serve as the best reference for the spectators and fans who will come to the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The work of the volunteers will be instrumental in helping make their experience truly memorable.
The areas in which volunteers will work include: Accreditation, Information Desks, Information Technology (IT), Media, Protocol and VIP Services, Transportation, Team Attachés, Healthcare Services, Logistics, Marketing and Promotion, Competition, Access Control, Volunteer Service Office, Sport Presentation and Entertainment.
Participation in the Volunteer Programme is reserved to people over the age of 18, although in exceptional cases minors may also be entitled to participate. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old on 1 August 2014, i.e., born before 1 August 1998.
