BEIRUT (Lebanon) - Groups C and D are ready to join in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers action as the lineups of teams opening their respective campaigns on Friday, August 28, have been confirmed.

Group C: Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Singapore Group D: Thailand, Mongolia, Vietnam, Fiji
Group C play will commence with a meeting between Southeast Asian sides Indonesia and Singapore at the Karisma Arena in Seremban, Malaysia, which will be housing all the games of the said pool.
It also marks FIBA's return to the venue after about 11 months, when it hosted both Division A and B competitions of the FIBA U16 Asia Cup 2025.
All Group D games, on the other hand, will be played at the MBank Arena in Ulaanbaatar, which has practically become the home of FIBA in Mongolia. Pool play will begin with a clash featuring Thailand and Fiji.
Eighteen National Teams – 17 from Asia along with Fiji from Oceania – will compete in the Pre-Qualifiers' opening round to mark the first step towards identifying the teams that will feature in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029.
Twelve teams will then advance to the Second Round, to be split into 2 groups of 6. It will be done in a round-robin format, to be played during the International Window Period between November 23 to December 1, 2026.
The top 4 teams from each group in the Second Round will make it to the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers, joining the 16 teams that played in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers will comprise three International Windows, followed by two FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifying Tournaments for Third-Placed teams to ascertain the 16 teams for the FIBA Asia Cup 2029.
FIBA
