BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers are all set to roll as the rosters of teams in Groups A and B have been confirmed following the conclusion of the technical meeting on Tuesday, August 25.

Group A: Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Nepal Group B: Kazakhstan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Kyrgyzstan
The road to the 2029 Asia Cup Qualifiers formally opens with a meeting between Maldives and Sri Lanka at the Baluan Sholak Sport Palace in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which is hosting all Group B games this window.
Group A games, on the other hand, will be held at the Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Sports Hall in Dubai, with pool action commencing with a bout between the United Arab Emirates and the debuting Nepal.
Eighteen National Teams – 17 from Asia along with Fiji from Oceania – will compete in the Pre-Qualifiers' opening round to mark the first step towards identifying the teams that will feature in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029.
Twelve teams will then advance to the Second Round, to be split into 2 groups of 6. It will be done in a round-robin format, to be played during the International Window Period between November 23 to December 1, 2026.
The top 4 teams from each group in the Second Round will make it to the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers, joining the 16 teams that played in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers will comprise three International Windows, followed by two FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifying Tournaments for Third-Placed teams to ascertain the 16 teams for the FIBA Asia Cup 2029.
