    WUHAN (FIBA Asia Championship) - On Sunday a record TV audience watched China recapturing the FIBA Asia crown after four years during which the trophy lay in Iranian hands. Indeed an average of 41.25 million Chinese watched their home team on CCTV-5 narrowly overcome Jordan in the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship final and book a place at the London 2012 Olympics.

    The figure represents a record 9.5% market share and with a reach of 93 million the China v Jordan games overtakes Semi Final between China and Korea - with an average rating of 35 million as the final the most followed sports TV programme of 2011.

    The two basketball games overtook the tennis match between Li Na and Francesca Schiavone in the final of Roland Garros. On that occasion the Wuhan born Na won the French Open in front of an average audience of 34.54 million viewers.
