FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, WOMEN
TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This team understands its role individually and collectively. All players contribute on offense and play hard on defense. Conservative game plan allows them to use strengths to their advantage and minimize size differential. Team concept is another strength and is its competitive nature. Good decisions with the ball and good shot selection helps offensive game. Good, solid work on the boards makes up for size and helps them compete in any game.
TRANSITION

Controlled transition game based on passing and spacing. Would rather work the ball up the floor than push at high speeds. Make good decisions on the break and pass ball well. Get the ball to scorers on break and if no advantage, team flows into half court offense.
OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

Consistent team on offense due to good balance and role definition. On ball screens are part of most possessions leading to open shots, penetration, or cuts to the basket. Good screening on the weak side allows ball reversal and offensive opportunities. Flare screens, baseline screens, and down screens are a part of this spread motion offense.
SET PLAYS
- High
post entry, on ball screen/hand off, ball reversal, flare cut and
post feed.
- High
post entry pass, low post step in, skip pass, penetration and open
shot.
- Wing
entry pass, down screen on weak side, cutter catches up high, pass
to shooter.
- Wing
entry, on ball screen and slips, baseline screens for cutter, post
feed.
OB PLAYS

From baseline, goal is to get ball inbounds and screen for the passer to free for a shot. Cutter can come out ball side corner, weak side corner, or to the top off double screen. From sideline, post steps up and sets immediate on ball screen followed by roll to the basket.
DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS

Defensive system based on man to man and zone defense in half court. Both defenses are active and aggressive and will pressure the ball to force extra passes. Will trap in the zone at any time in the high post, low post or corners. Quickness allows them to close out quickly and force shots or decisions from the offense.
