    CHINESE TAIPEI
    FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, WOMEN

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
A team that really plays to its strengths on both end of the floor. Quickness and aggressive play are trademarks and make up for lack of overall size. Many baskets come directly off penetrate and dish and the extra pass is a part of their game. Defensive pressure and their half court scramble keep the offense off balance and take them out of their rhythm. Great team concept and competitiveness.

    TRANSITION
Will advance ball up the floor when they have numbers advantage, but not a priority. Will pass and dribble ball quickly up the floor and look for spot up wing shooters or trailers. Will shoot off break as much as drive ball to the rim.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
Half court motion mixed with set plays. Good spacing and emphasis on getting the ball inside is a priority. Motion is run high on the floor to leave room for back cuts and post ups. Post pass the ball well form the high post and form high/low action often. Cutting away from the ball is excellent creating many assists in motion offense.

    SET PLAYS
    1. Wing entry pass, passer follows pass and cuts behind teammate for hand off and drive.
    2. Over the top cut from left to right wing, entry pass to left, high post back cut for lay up.
    3. Ball reversal, flare screen on left side followed by on ball screen and roll, post feed and basket.
    4. Shuffle cut, down screen action.
    5. High post entry, back cut, penetrate and dish for jump shot.

    ZONE OFFENSE
Good cutting, passing and screener are all parts of this zone offense. Wings cut through the lane to opposite wing to create coverage problems for the defense. Post step out and screen for perimeter players to force 2 on 1 coverage situations.

    OB PLAYS
Each OB play is unique and includes screening and cutting action. One play is a quick inbounds pass followed by post up by passer. Once pass is passed in, passer may cut to top using a double screen at the free throw line to get free for a shot. From the sideline, they will enter ball and run a set play.

    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Along with their man to man half court defense they will trap and scramble. The scramble forces the offense to keep the ball moving and take quick shots. Force some turnovers by trapping ball on sideline and baseline.
