FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, MEN
TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This team takes full advantage of it's athletic ability, speed, and quickness. Their style on offense is based on attacking the defense and getting to the basket. This is accomplished by penetration, post feeds, or offensive rebounds and put backs. They play very hard and work well as a team.
TRANSITION

Very opportunistic team in transition because of quickness, speed, and athletic ability. Can quickly get down the floor by dribble or pass and get ball to the basket. If driving lane is closed they penetrate and pitch to open shooters or post players running the floor. On missed shots they crash the boards for offensive rebounds and put backs.
OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

Cutting, slashing, athletic team. Like to get the ball in the middle of the floor to best players and let them create. Most players world rather penetrate than shoot jump shots. All players can penetrate and get the the rim. Attack the offensive glass for second shot opportunities.
SET PLAYS
- Floor
is spread, weak side cutter sets up lob pass from point guard.
- Post
entry, hand back, on ball screen for shot.
- Post
entry, screens on both sides, cutter continues for hand off from
post and takes shot.
ZONE OFFENSE

All players have the freedom to cut, penetrate and flash against the zone. Ball is reversed through high post for shot or penetration and pitch. Open shots are taken but preference is penetration. All players crash the glass on the shot.
OB PLAYS

Baseline OB plays start in a double stack and cutters use post screeners. From the sideline, the ball is thrown in followed by a quick on ball screen and roll.
DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS

Quickness and defensive aggressiveness help to create turnovers and easy baskets. Like to trap the post to disrupt the offensive flow and force the ball out of the post.
