    FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, MEN

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This team works together on both ends of the floor. They maintain good balance and have good chemistry. Players stay with in roles as individuals and a team which helps make up for size disadvantage. Quick and smart on both ends. Pass continuously in the half court until a desired shot is created. Use their post player well and space the perimeter to give opportunity to go inside/out. Use of shot fakes helps them to penetrate or bounce once and shoot.

    TRANSITION
They will drive and kick for open threes with good floor spacing and shot-ready shooters. Will execute a quick hand off at the end of transition just at the three point line for an open shot. Guards bring ball down the middle of the floor on the dribble and finish at the basket. Transition speed and quickness with the ball make this team a threat on every break. Posts can rebound and outlet quickly to any guard to get the ball up the floor.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
Unselfish team that really looks for open teammates. Majority of baskets come off passes instead of one on one play. Use each player in a way to maximize each possession. Big post player is important part of this offense. Very few possessions exclude the post toughing the ball at least once. Once in the post, cutting and spotting up allows for space in the post and inside/out possibilities.

    SET PLAYS
    1. Wing entry, ball reversal, block to block cross screen, wing isolation for baseline drive.
    2. Wing dribble entry and ball reversal on top, double screen for shot on weak side.

    ZONE OFFENSE
Make good use of high on ball screens for point guard. Once ball is dribbled off top or thrown to wing, both posts dive to openings in lane. Posts can step out and reverse ball and dive. Shooters spot up in open areas on ball penetration.

    OB PLAYS
Several different plays are use from sideline and baseline plays. From sideline they make wing entry followed by shuffle cut from weak side for lay up. On baseline, ball is passed in to post and passer follows behind for hand off and shot or on ball screen and drive.

    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Will play both man to man and zone but favor man to man. Posts used for shot blocking and rebounding purposes. Zone is good because it minimizes the impact of size the offense may have. Communicate well as guards and wings work together on perimeter.
