    CHINESE TAIPEI
    FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, MEN

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
Balanced, unselfish team that does not beat itself. Patience on offense and aggressiveness on defense are team trademarks. Makes up for lack of size by playing hard and disrupting the opponents offense. Point guard pushes ball for many easy basket opportunities and post run floor well. Balanced team that shares the ball and know roles. Do good job of spreading the floor and forcing the defense into difficult rotations.

    TRANSITION
Transition baskets can come off quick or slow breaks. If turnover is created the quick break kicks in, lead by the point guard. Drives to the basket or passes to open teammates result. A slower pace transition possession will include cutters and a high on ball screen for shots over the top of the screening action.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
Half court scoring comes in a variety of forms. On ball screens are a part of most possessions and create many baskets. Screeners slip many screens to catch and score. Perimeter players can shoot off on ball screens and dribble split between defenders and get into the paint. Patient enough to get a good shot by the right players. Mainly a perimeter oriented half court offense but can get to the offensive boards on missed shots. Take good shots and share the ball well.

    SET PLAYS
    1. High post entry, basket cut, down screen down, ball reversal, single screen down.
    2. Entry is shuffle cut over top of screener, ball reversed, and back door cut for lay up.

    OB PLAYS
The focus is on screening for shooter for open jump shot. Will start with pass to strong side sideline followed by screening action. Baseline and sideline plays are designed for quick scores whether it be a jump shot or a post feed later in possession.

    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Aggressive, gambling style of half court defense. In man to man or zone, they are aggressive and play hard to force turnovers. Often overplay passes and shoot the gap to get steals. 2-3 and 3-2 zone is aggressive with good double and triple pressure on post players that catch inside. Man to man is similar in aggressiveness and will trap on ball screens and force ball away from the basket. Many steals in half court result in baskets in transition.
