MEXICO CITY (2007 FIBA Americas Championship) - Venezuela, Chile and Argentina have been named as the finalists in the bidding to host next year's FIBA Americas Championship.
Javier Otero, spokesman for FIBA Americas, confirmed that Argentina had handed in its bid on Wednesday, the final day that applications were being accepted.
Venezuela filed late last year, while Chile applied in January.
"Now, FIBA Americas will begin the process of visiting buildings and facilities, as well as analysing communications and other details," Otero said.
A final decision on where the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship will be held will come when the FIBA Americas Executive Committee meets on June 1 in Puerto Rico.
