    GENEVA/SAN JUAN (2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - FIBA Americas, in cooperation with FIBA, would like to announce the launching of puertorico2009.fibaamericas.com, the official website for the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico from August 26 to September 6.

    Puertorico2009.fibaamericas.com will have all the details about the event who qualifies the best four teams for the 2010 FIBA World Championship. This website will have live stats, news, photos, interviews, reports and previews. You can also follow your favorite team and players with stats, news and picture during the event.

    The 2009 FIBA Americas Championship will be played at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan and will have the ten of the best national teams in America.

    The participants are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands and Venezuela.

    FIBA Americas organizes this event every two years and are qualifiers for Olympics and FIBA World Championships. This tournament, which is a World Championship qualifier, was celebrated for the last time in 2005 in the Dominican Republic where Brazil won gold by beating Argentina in the finals.
