SAN SALVADOR (COCABA Championship) - Mexico are on the brink of the COCABA Championship final after winning twice on the road in their semi-final with El Salvador.

Widely regarded as having the strongest squad in the competition, the visitors showed no mercy in Game One, crushing the home side 82-64.

Jorge Rochin top scored with 20 points for Mexico - who won Group A with a 4-0 triumph over Belize - while Enrique Zuniga contributed 15.

Saturday's Game Two win was even more emphatic, Mexico dominating all four periods to triumph 83-61.

Rochin was again the star man, netting 19 points, the same tally as team-mate Victor Avila.

Mexico now host El Salvador in Mexicali in Tuesday's Game Three, with a win enough to sweep the series.

If El Salvador do manage to pull off an unlikely shock, the sides will meet again on Wednesday, in Tijuana.

The other semi-final tie sees Group B winners Costa Rica meet Group A runners-up Belize.

The best three teams will qualify for the 2006 Centrobasket Tournament.
