    ARGENTINA
FIBA AMERICAS WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP, SUMMER 2007

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This is a scrappy team that plays with energy and attitude. What they lack in some areas they make
up for it with grit and aggressive play. Balanced offensive and defensive attack. Defensive pressure
is the key to disrupting the opponent and forcing bad decisions. Shooting must be efficient in the half
court if transition game is not producing points. A team that will compete for every basket.

    TRANSITION
The transition game is enhanced by their ability to pass the ball. Passes can be from 10 to 50 feet in
length. Transition is a priority and a good percentage of their points come from the break. If posts run
the floor the ball will go inside. If posts run behind the ball they may receive the ball cutting down the
lane to the basket. Good spacing makes their passing ability a real weapon.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
Tendencies on offense are based on ball and player movement. Spreading the floor allows them to
isolate posts and reverse the ball to put pressure on the defense. Constant screening action is the
key to getting open and keeping the defense on their heels. Cuts and penetration are done with hard,
purposeful action. Posts use the block area but will also step out on the floor to catch and play from
there. Post possess good ball skills.

    SET PLAYS
    1. Post pops out to catch from point guard. Guard goes behind for hand off, on ball reversal, the
post receives a shuffle screen to the open post.
    2. Flare action on top of the floor. On the catch, perimeter/post cross screen from block to block.

    3. On wing pass, weak side forward dives to ball side post. Weak side guard takes down screen to
get open on top of the floor.

    ZONE OFFENSE
Entire zone offense depends on getting the ball to the high post area. 4 out 1 in set with a post low
and one high. High post player can flash, reverse ball and on ball screen. When ball is caught in high
post at free throw line, wings cut baseline for pass from post. Open shots come from ball reversal
    and post screening up top.

    OB PLAYS
    1. Wing pops out of stack and catches. Dribbles uphill to drag the defense. In bounds passes steps
      to corner for open shot.
    2. Decoy Play--Double stack for shooter. Shooter comes from left mid-post over screen to the right
wing. Guard up top times the cut going back door for a lay-up.
    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Extreme man to man pressure in the backcourt ignites their entire defense. Rebound well on the
defense glass. Always put pressure on the ball, reaching and bumping the dribbler. Pick up full court
after made free throw or dead ball in backcourt. Will double team when they have a chance. Create a
lot of steals by being aggressive and reaching for the ball.
