    FIBA Africa mourns death of Shwikar Guirguis

    ABIDJAN - FIBA Africa and the Egyptian Basketball Federation expressed deep sadness and great sorrow following the passing of Shwikar Abdalla Yosif Guirguis on Wednesday December 13.

    ABIDJAN - FIBA Africa and the Egyptian Basketball Federation expressed great sorrow and deep sadness following the passing of Shwikar Abdalla Yosif Guirguis on Wednesday December 13. She was 51 years old.

    Born and raised in Egypt, Guirguis dedicated 32 years of her life to basketball as an administrative assistant at FIBA Africa's office in Cairo, Egypt.

    The native of the Egyptian capital began her collaboration with FIBA Africa on January 10, 1985, during Secretary Emeritus Abdel Azim Ashry's term in Office.

    FIBA Africa President Hamane Niang and FIBA Africa Regional Director Alphonse Bile, said: "The continental basketball stakeholders are deeply saddened by the news of Mrs Guirguis' passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and beloved ones at this time."

    FIBA Africa extends its deepest condolences to Mrs Guirguis' family.
