FIBA AFRICA CHAMPIONSHIP 2009, MEN
TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
A team that maximizes it's athletic ability by playing good defense and getting to the glass. Quickness, speed, jumping ability, and athleticism are benefits. Their gameplan is basic and executed well. Will challenge you on the defensive end with traps and active hands. Hard playing team that uses athletic ability to expose the opponent.
TRANSITION
Transition is based on speed and ability to get to the rim. Once ball is rebounded or stolen they get to the other end quickly. Can finish on the break with drive or pull up jump shot. Posts run floor well to post up and grad offensive rebounds.
OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

Spread the floor well to give opportunities to penetrate and distort the defense. Isolation in the post and on the perimeter allow for one on one plays. Prefer to drive over shoot outside jump shot but can do both well. Do a good job of cutting when away from the ball to get to the offensive glass.
SET PLAYS
- Left
side is isolated for wing player to set up back cut lob.

- 1-4
high set, ball entered to wing and screen across for post.

- Wing
entry and corner cut, ball reversal, single staggered baseline
screen.

- 1-4
high set, back side cleared out for back cut lob pass.

Basic 4 out, 1 in alignment. On pass to corner, wing cuts through and post fills strong side post. Lane is open for post to flash and post. All players can pass and cut and all go to offensive glass on shot against the zone.
OB PLAYS

Basic box set used to free either post or perimeter player for open shot.
DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS

Man to man and zone defensive team. Zone is active with good pressure and active hands on ball. Quickness allows zone to cover shooters on penetration or skip passes. Will full court trap press occasionally during the game. Man to man is aggressive with traps on thepost and ball pressure.
