    MOZAMBIQUE
FIBA AFRICA WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007, WOMEN

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This teams knows its identity and plays within that identity. On both ends they will not extend
themselves and concentrate on what they can do well. For example, they will not push the ball in
transition if numbers are not present. Hard playing team witnessed by their defensive help and ability
to drive the ball to the basketball on the offensive end. All players are capable of executing on the
offensive end with the goal of scoring off the dribble.

    TRANSITION
Transition is a minor part of their offensive attack. Posts are responsible for the defensive rebound
and outlet. Will likely shoot the three point shots off the break. If number are not in their favor they
will play their half court defense.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
Driving to the paint or all the way to the rim is their goal in the half court. All five players are capable
of creating one on one situation by jab or shot fake to lift defender. Point guard will drive from 25 feet
to the basket or dish the ball to a post. Shoot a variety of different shots; runners, step through and
opposite foot fade away. Posts can score inside but need an angle to the rim. Good offensive
rebounding team with at least three players to the offensive backboards.

    SET PLAYS
    1. UCLA Cut by point as screener steps out for on ball screen at the wing. 2 man game on open
      side.
    2. Double high screens. Point has choice which way to drive. Roller goes all the way to the basket as
opposite post steps out ofr high/low.
    3. UCLA Opposite. Same as #1, but point set back screen from block to get ball inside.
    ZONE OFFENSE
Zone attack is 3 out 2 in. Posts have freedom to play low or high post. Posts will set on ball for point guard then roll to the rim. Wings can run baseline to exchange sides. Key is getting the ball into posts in the paint.

    OB PLAYS
Focused on scoring with OB plays. Three looks in their OB series. One is a baseline runner with two
post players screening at the blocks. The goal on another play is to hit the inbounds passer as they
step inbounds to the ball side corner for a return pass and open three point shot. The sideline OB will
get the ball into the high post for the high/low pass.

    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
This team knows it's strengths and weaknesses on defense. They do a good job with their strengths
such as double teams in the post, handling on ball screens, reacting to screens and helping out.
They will give a little full court man to man pressure but are mainly a man to man half court team.
Can block a few shots but basically their plan is to defend in a fundamental way; containing the ball,
forcing ball out of the post and blocking off.
