SAN SALVADOR (El Salvador) - The FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2026 is bringing more than continental competition to San Salvador, with a series of educational activities designed to help coaches and team communications staff develop their knowledge and expertise in 3x3 basketball.
Held alongside the tournament, these initiatives are giving participants opportunities to learn from experienced 3x3 basketball practitioners, exchange ideas and gain practical insights that can benefit their respective national programmes beyond the AmeriCup.
Coaching Clinics
FIBA is hosting two 3x3 basketball Coaching Clinics on October 30 and 31, at Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda. The first session took place on Friday, October 30, with the second clinic scheduled for Saturday, October 31.
The sessions are led by Slovenian 3x3 basketball trailblazers Ales Kunc and Matic Vidic. Kunc is a former 5v5 and 3x3 national team player who won silver at the inaugural FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup and claimed two FIBA 3x3 World Tour Finals with legendary Team Ljubljana.
Vidic, meanwhile, led Slovenia's 3x3 basketball national team programme for several years, overseeing medal-winning campaigns across different age categories at FIBA 3x3 World Cups, 3x3 Europe Cups and 3x3 Nations League competitions.
Each clinic combines theoretical discussions and practical demonstrations featuring demo teams, giving participating coaches the opportunity to explore different aspects of the game.
Media Workshop
FIBA also organized a 3x3 Media & Social Media Workshop on October 29.
Designed primarily for the communications and media representatives of participating delegations, the workshop covered social media best practices around 3x3 events, effective content formats, collaboration with official FIBA 3x3 channels and hashtags, as well as media rights and accreditation.
Coaches and team officials were also welcome to attend, giving delegations an opportunity to strengthen how they communicate and promote their 3x3 activities.
Knowledge beyond the competition
Organized in cooperation with the Salvadoran Basketball Federation (FESABAL), these additional activities highlight the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup's role as a platform for development and knowledge-sharing.
By bringing together expertise in coaching and communications, the initiatives are creating added value for participating delegations and contributing to the continued growth of 3x3 basketball across the Americas.
