    FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Approval Programmes

    The FIBA Equipment & Venue Department has been appointed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to run an Approval Programme on its behalf. The programme shall cover the period beginning on 1st January 2011 and expiring on 31st December 2014.

    Only manufacturers are given an opportunity to submit their products for approval. Their products should be tested by a recognized and qualified testing institute (accepted by the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre) according to at least the minimum standards established by FIBA.

    If the test results are positive, the manufacturer may be awarded a FIBA Study Centre Certificate.

    How to obtain FIBA Approval

    • The manufacturing company applying for approval must have been in activity for at least 8 years, and the product for which they are seeking approval, must have been in the relevant market segment for at least 6 years.
    • Send a written request including definition of the product to be approved and all relevant technical literature* and documentation to:

      * The technical information should comprise brochures, commercial leaflets and technical specifications.

      Send to the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre the below questionnaire, along with copies of safety and quality certificates (TÜV, ISO,…) from recognized international Test Institutes such as the ones belonging to the International Association of Sports Surface Sciences. www.isss.de (for flooring), TÜV or IBV.

     

    Tests successful
     
    The tests must meet the minimum FIBA requirements - as specified in the latest rules - for the specific product category. All tests performed are at the expense of the manufacturer.

    • The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre receives the appropriate Test results as issued by the Test Institute.
    • The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre reserves the right to send a representative to visit the manufacturing plant.
    • The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre sends two (2) original Agreements to be checked. The Manufacturer returns the two (2) signed copies to the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre and settles the license fee.
    • Upon receipt of payment, FIBA returns a copy of the original agreement and the manufacturer will be awarded a FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Certificate stating that its products comply with the latest FIBA rules.
