    Follow up: 29 sep 2010
In view of the fact that Apoel Nicosia BC continues to be in breach of its obligation to honour the FAT award, FIBA imposed a ban on registration of new players on Apoel Nicosia BC.

    Summary of the case:

The Israeli player Amir Tamir and the players’ agent Arik Krayn filed a claim against the Cypriot club Seastar Apoel Nicosia Basketball Club for compensation for breach of contract, outstanding salaries, bonuses and agent fees.

The player requested full payment of his salaries and bonuses for the entire 2009/2010 season, alleging inter alia that the club breached the contract by not paying his salaries.

Despite several invitations by the FAT, Apoel Nicosia did not file an answer to the request for arbitration within the set time limits. The Arbitrator decided to partially uphold the claim.
