In view of the fact that the club Ural Great BC continues to be in breach of its obligation to honour the FAT award, FIBA imposed a ban on registration of new players on Ural Great BC.

    Summary of the case:

The American player Ralph Biggs and the players’ agent Jan Lugtenburg filed a claim against the Russian club Ural Great BC for outstanding salaries, bonuses and agent fees as well as for compensation for breach of contract.

The player requested inter alia payment of the difference between the salaries for the 2009/2010 season under the contract with Ural Great BC and the salaries under the contract with his new club, Krasnie Krilya Samara. The Puerto Rican player Christian Dalmau and the player’s agent José F. Paris filed a claim against the Russian club Ural Great BC for outstanding salaries, agent's fees and compensation for breach of contract.

The player requested full payment of his salaries and other expenses for the entire 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons, alleging that the club terminated the contract without just cause.

In its answer, the club denied the above claims submitting that the player breached his contractual duties by arriving late at Perm, by missing practices without providing any explanation and by refusing to provide his services under the contract.

Also, the club filed a counterclaim asking for the payment of fines that had been imposed on the player. The Arbitrator decided not to admit the counterclaim and to partially uphold the claim.
