FAT 0010/08 (Grgurevic v/ AEP Olympias Patras)

In view of the fact that AEP Olympias Patras continues to be in breach of its obligation to honour the FAT award, FIBA imposed a ban on registration of new players on AEP Olympias Patras.

In accordance with Article L.2.7.1 of the FIBA Internal Regulations, FIBA sanctioned AEP Olympias Patras with a monetary fine of EUR 15,000 for failing to honour the FAT award.

Summary of the case:
The Croatian player Ante Grgurevic filed a claim against the Greek club AEP Olympias Patras BC for compensation for breach of contract and agent fees.

The player requested full payment of his salaries and amenities for the entire 2007/2008 season as well as late payment penalties and "tax effects".

Despite several invitations by the FAT, AEP Olympias Patras BC did not make any submissions. Nevertheless, the Arbitrator proceeded with the arbitration.

The claim was partially upheld.
