WARSAW (Poland) – Every level of 3x3 basketball presents a new challenge.
Fabian Giessmann has met every one of them.
The German star added another chapter to his growing résumé at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026, helping Germany secure a historic silver medal in Warsaw and further cementing his status as one of the brightest young talents in the game.
While the final result may have fallen just short of gold, Giessmann's performance throughout the tournament was another reminder that he has consistently succeeded at every level of 3x3 basketball.
The journey began in 2022, when he helped Germany capture gold at the FIBA 3x3 U17 Europe Cup. A year later, he climbed even higher, playing a key role in Germany's triumph at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup.
The success continued in 2024.
Giessmann once again stood atop the podium after helping Germany win the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup, completing a remarkable run through the youth ranks and establishing himself as one of the sport's premier young players.
Of course, many prospects shine at youth level. Few, however, make the transition to the senior game as quickly as Giessmann has.
At the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026, he emerged as one of the tournament's brightest stars, helping Germany navigate a challenging field and advance all the way to the gold medal game. Along the way, Germany produced some of the tournament's most impressive performances, with Giessmann's athleticism, shot-making and competitive spirit helping drive the team's historic run.
The silver medal may not have been the ending Germany wanted, but it represented another major step forward for both Giessmann and the national team.
Perhaps more importantly, it completed a unique sequence.
Gold at the U17 Europe Cup, the U18 World Cup and the U23 World Cup.
Silver at the senior World Cup.
At just 21 years old, Giessmann has already built a medal collection that many players could only dream of.
The next question is no longer whether he can win at the highest level, but when.
If his journey so far is any indication, the wait may not be very long.
