    MIAMI (United States) – Everything is set for the ninth edition of the FIBA U16 Women's AmeriCup 2025, taking place from June 16-22 in Irapuato, Mexico. The tournament will award four spots to the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup in 2026. Here’s what you need to know before tip-off at the Inforum in Irapuato.

    Who is participating?

    Argentina – 8 appearances (including 2025) Canada – 9 Colombia – 3 Mexico – 9 Panama – 1 Puerto Rico – 8 United States – 9 Venezuela – 5

    How did they qualify?

    Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico secured the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, earning the three available spots at the FIBA U15 Women’s Centrobasket Championship in 2024. Venezuela, Colombia, and Argentina qualified through the South American U15 Women’s Championship in 2024. However, the United States and Canada, as representatives from North America— had automatic qualifications.

    What is the competition format?

    During the Group Phase, each team will face every other team in their group to determine the seedings for the Quarter-Finals. The matchups for the Quarter-Finals will be as follows: 1st A vs. 4th B 2nd A vs. 3rd B 2nd B vs. 3rd A 1st B vs. 4th A The four winners of the Quarter-Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals, while the remaining teams will compete for 5th to 8th place. The winners of the Semi-Finals will play for the gold medal, and the losers will battle for bronze.

    Who was the last MVP?

    Jerzy Robinson, still just 16, is preparing to compete at the U19 World Cup next month.

    Jerzy Robinson led the USA to the championship in 2023. Throughout the tournament, she averaged a double-double with 17.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. She also led the tournament in both scoring and efficiency (EFF 20.8).
