SAN ANTONIO (NBA) - The Hollywood marriage of San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker and actress Eva Longoria is going to end.

The couple wed in 2007 but Longoria on Wednesday filed for divorce in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences.

When Parker showed up for his game against the Chicago Bulls, the France international was asked about the split.

"It's a difficult time right now for me and Eva," Parker said.

"We got a joint statement and everything else is our private life."

Longoria offered a comment about the divorce on Twitter.

Her tweet said: "It is with great sadness that after seven years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce.

“We love each other deeply and pray for each other's happiness."

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich offered a brief comment about the impending divorce.

"This is a difficult situation for everyone, obviously," Popovich said.

"Eva and Tony are two people that we love and care about.

"We wish them both the best as they move through this."

Longoria, 35, was one of 28-year-old Parker's biggest fans.

She travelled to Japan to watch him play for France at the 2006 FIBA World Championship before they were married, although a finger injury suffered just days before the start of the tournament prevented him from playing.

The Desperate Housewives television star also showed up in Poland to watch Parker play at EuroBasket 2009 and was frequently a spectator at San Antonio Spurs games.

The two were not shy about being a famous couple.

They took part in a London Fog photo shoot and also hosted a casino night.
