SKOPJE (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B) - Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine were the last teams to qualify for the Quarter-Finals at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B on Tuesday in Skopje.

Denmark found their way to the top of Group D by defeating Switzerland 58-44 and finishing the Group Phase with a 5-0 record, with Malene Pedersen and Julianna Okosun leading the team to an assured victory in the decisive game.

    ...

Pederson collected a team-high 12 points for the winners, Okosun double-doubled with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Emma Chardon finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals for Switzerland, who played without their key player Charlotte Kohler.

The fact that the Swiss side picked up a loss and dropped to a 3-2 mark allowed Bosnia and Herzegovina to slide into second place after handling Great Britain a 56-43 loss behind the two-way performance of Marija Keseljevic, who collected 16 points, 7 steals and 5 rebounds.

    ...

Also in the group, the Slovak Republic finished the Group Phase on a positive note by topping Albania 68-48 to finish fourth behind Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Ukraine swooped up the only other remaining ticket to the Quarter-Finals with a 68-46 victory over Ireland in Group B after overcoming a rocky start and a 12-point deficit in the opening quarter.

The Irish side actually still held a 39-38 lead heading into the fourth period, but the Myroslava Topchyi and Vladyslava Kiba-led Ukrainians went on to score 28 unanswered points to blow out their opponents in the final frame despite trailing for most of the encounter.
