BRAINE (EuroCup Women 2017) – Mithra Castors Braine have got their business done early as they prepare to make a return to EuroCup Women for 2016-17.
The Belgian champions famously rode all the way to the Final of the competition 18 months ago during a fairytale run only just stopped short of seeing them deliver the title as they fell to ESBVA-LM at the last hurdle.
Having made the move into EuroLeague Women last season where they competed for the very first time, Braine are ready to hit the EuroCup Women trail again, with Phillip Mestdagh back in the coaching hot seat as they prepare to face Spar City Lift Girona, Clube Uniao Sportiva and a team from the qualifying round.
It looks like an interesting line-up for Braine this season, with rising star and WNBA draftee Julie Allemand looking like she will be handed an expanded role. The dynamic guard was recently named to the All-Star Five at the FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship 2016 where she showed even greater levels of maturity.
Allemand will have another Belgian talent in Antonia Delaere alongside her in the shooting guard spot, while Estonian veteran Merike Anderson has also re-signed for another campaign. The new face in the backcourt is Linda Lehtoranta of the Finland national team.

Celeste Trahan-Davis will continue in a Braine vest for another season and be the main reference point under the basket alongside a potential star in new arrival Kahleah Copper, who is impressing in the WNBA with Washington Mystics.
The club have also welcomed other fresh faces in the shape of Czech forward duo Renata Brezinova and Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Nikolina Milic, who both played in the Italian League last season.
Finally, Betty Mununga arrives via Liege and Manon Grzesinski has been handed a contract extension which means she will continue for a third consecutive year in Braine.
