MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Rutronik Stars Keltern claimed one of three remaining Last 16 tickets after surviving a thrilling encounter.

The German side fell to a 68-69 defeat against Castors Braine but advanced courtesy of their superior head-to-head with both sides finishing with 3-3 records.

Julie Allemand netted 20 points for Castors in a topsy-turvy game which the visitors led by as many as 9 points in the closing stages.

"We just didn’t play on the level today," conceded Castors head coach Philip Mestdagh, knowing his team needed to win by seven or more. "Of course the first game we played at home was also a factor. If you lose at home by six points it's hard to take the win on the road. With two minutes on the clock we were leading by nine points but we didn't manage to finish strong."

Also booking their spot in the next round were Peac Pecs after they defeated rivals Pinkk Pecsi 424 71-48 to pip MBA Moscow into second place in Group B.

Earlier in the day, Bellona Agu claimed an 81-69 success over MBA Moscow as Ann Wauters contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds to help her side finish 6-0.

Galatasaray also wrapped up their First Round with a perfect record as they powered past Dynamo Novosibirsk 75-52 even without the services of the competition's leading scorer, Moriah Jefferson.

Spar Citylift Girona became the third side to secure a 6-0 finish in the group phase as they eased to an 89-67 win at home to Uniao Sportiva behind 22 points from Hailey Peters.

Reyer Venezia ended up as group winners after they recorded a convincing 65-42 win over Cavigal Nice Basket with Ashleigh Fontenette scoring 19 points, although both sides were already assured of a place in the next round.

Elsewhere, Elfic Fribourg completed a Group G double over Basket Landes with a 62-64 triumph on the road as both sides bow out with 2-4 records.

Annie Tarakchian led the way with 14 points and 14 rebounds including the offensive putback in the dying seconds to secure the victory for her side.

Nantes Reze wrapped up the day's action with a comfortable 52-77 win away at Namur to finish with a 3-3 record as Katherine Plouffe racked up a double-double of 23 points and 13 boards.
