VENICE (EuroCup Women 2017) – It's one of the main contenders for game of the week as the ambitious Reyer Venezia take on a quality Basket Landes side in what looks to be a shootout for early supremacy in EuroCup Women Group G.

Landes arrive having despatched domestic rivals Cavigal Nice Basket 06 with relative ease and while all eyes had been on the backcourt combo of Celine Dumerc and Queralt Casas, it was Cierra Bravard who stole the show.

Venezia took victory at Elfic Fribourg and that proved particularly pleasing for head coach, Andrea Liberalotto who reflected, "Both teams worked very hard on defence and for us, it was important to start with a win.

"We missed some easy shots, but we had a long trip to Switzerland after a game in Italy on Sunday and therefore we had to perform with a good attitude to win that game."

While Venezia and Landes compete for the Group G box-seat, both Nice and Fribourg must try to get off the mark. First-timers Nice will be hopeful that marquee star Victoria Macaulay will get more contributions from the supporting cast as they eye a historic opening victory.

Both of Group B’s Hungarian participants and city rivals PINKK Pesci 424 and PEAC-Pecs are in action on their home floor and looking to open their respective Regular Season accounts. The former entertain MBA Moscow, who will arrive with a spring in their step after a first-ever win in the competition last week.

PEAC-Pecs will face a stern test against Group favourites Bellona Agu who are likely to give court time to Ann Wauters and Jelena Dubljevic for the first time.

Elsewhere, TSV 1880 Wasserburg are hoping to complete a Swedish double in Group H when they land in Umea to play Udominate, a week after comprehensively beating Lulea BBK.

In Group F and in the last game of the evening, Uniao Sportiva will tussle with Rutronik Stars Keltern as both clubs try to respond to their opening night losses.
