    BARCELONA (Euroleague) – Montepaschi Siena didn’t get the wins they came for but nevertheless left the Euroleague Final Four on a high by beating Real Madrid 80-62 in the battle for third place on Sunday.

    Leading 36-32 at half-time at the Palau Sant Jordi, the Italians pulled away in the third quarter with David Moss and Lithuania international Ksistof Lavrinovic pouring in 12 of the team’s 21 points in the quarter.

    On top 57-45 with 10 minutes to go, Simone Pianigiani’s team cruised to victory.

    Lavrinovic finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds for Montepaschi, who will now try to win their fifth straight Italian Lega A championship.

    Spain international Sergio Llull had a game-high 23 points for Madrid, who must regroup and get ready for the ACB play-offs.

    They are second in Spain’s top flight with the regular season winding down.
