    OLYMPIACOS PIRAEUS
    EUROLEAGUE FINAL FOUR 2010, MEN

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
A team that plays set plays with short entry situations that create Pick & Roll action. They always involve a third man in the Pick & Roll. The small forward and power forward wait in the corners and go backdoor while the Pick & Roll is played middle. Besides their Pick & Roll game it should be pointed out that they play a great amount of time with two point guards oncourt. They do not pressure the ball and do not deny. When guard to guard screens occur they will often switch.

    TRANSITION
The ball transfer up court will always occur by the point guard dribbling, and this creates many coast to coast situations. Kleiza and Childress run every break and try to finish by driving strong and other than that they will isolate in the low post and look for an early score.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
They use a lot of isolations for their centers in the low post and the other four players will space out around the perimeter. They also create isolations on the perimeter for their forwards. Their point guards will always look for Pick & Roll situations.

    SET PLAYS
Primary offense: They run it often as a secondary break. It starts with a swing by the center on the perimeter followed by a side Pick & Roll. They will look to finish the play with the two man game, but their forwards will be ready to cut backdoor at every possibility.

Isolation: They use Pick & Roll as an entry and will look for their center to isolate in the low post. Their power forward or small forward will isolate on the perimeter and all others will clear out. If neither isolation works they will continue with side Pick & Roll.

Power forward Pick & Roll: Starts with a down screen from the center for the power forward, who either curls and finishes strong or plays middle Pick & Roll. They use this offense mainly when they play with two point guards, because if neither of the first two options works, Teodosic will attack the basket after side Pick & Roll.

    ZONE OFFENSE
A team against whom it is not wise to play zone defense. Teodosic is a sharp shooter, Papaloukas an assist genius, Childress an expert one on one player, Kleiza a powerful body, and smart centers like Bourousis and Vujcic. They start with a 1-3-1 formation against zones. When the first line swings the ball, the power forward will receive a bump from the center. In either situation the power forward is the creator of all continuations.

    OB PLAYS
On SOB they will play Flex and look primarily for power forward isolation. If that does not work they will run Pick & Roll from all positions. On BOB they will look for center low post isolation.

    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Their transition defense will pick up in the perimeter of their back court. Their point guard attacks the player with the ball and all other players run back. On off ball screens the defender will normally follow above the screen. In Pick & Roll their center will sag 3m below the screen.
