The defending champions prevailed in Serbia with Lithuania's Ramunas Siskauskas scoring 20 points and Slovenia's Matjaz Smodis 18.
"It was very tough game tonight," said CSKA Moscow coach Ettore Messina. "My players were brave and they played with heart all the way."
Panathinaikos bounced back from their Game 2 defeat at home against Montepaschi Siena by trouncing the Italians 72-53 in Tuscany.
