ATHENS (Euroleague) - Several players headed to the FIBA World Championship in Turkey with their national teams performed well in the Euroleague on Wednesday night.
Milos Teodosic, the Serbian who captured the Euroleague Player of the Month for January, had 17 points and five assists for Olympiacos in their 78-75 win over Cibona Zagreb.
The Reds bounced back from their weekend defeat in Greece to Maroussi to record a third win in as many Top 16 games.
Croatia center Nikola Vujcic poured in 16 points and corralled six rebounds for Olympiacos, while Greece’s Sofoklis Schortsanitis ended up with 10 points, four boards and two steals.
Another Croatia national team player, Marko Tomas, missed EuroBasket 2009 through injury but expects to be back in the line-up at the FIBA World Championship.
He made four of six shots from long range and had a game-high 23 points for Cibona (0-3).
CSKA Moscow also improved to 3-0 in the Top 16 after an 84-73 victory over Asseco Prokom (2-1).
Emerging Russia star Sasha Kaun poured in 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for CSKA.
Unicaja Malaga improved to 1-2 after an 86-68 drubbing of Zalgiris Kaunas (0-3).
Greece’s Georgios Printezis finished with 14 points for Unicaja.
