    Quartet get over EuroLeague Women setbacks, Galatasaray tip off title defense in style

    While there has been a new playcaller and several new players arriving at Galatasaray, the 2018 winners lit it up against rookies Niki Lefkada, as Moriah Jefferson and Victoria Macaulay combined for 42 points to pave the way for an 81-61 triumph.

    Elsewhere, there were wins for those  clubs who parachuted into the competition after losing their respective EuroLeague Women Qualifiers earlier this month.


    Reyer Venezia reacted by smashing their way past Nantes Reze 88-60, as Jolene Anderson posted an all-action 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Marie Gulich chipped in with 16 points and 8 boards.

    There was a convincing 76-58 success for Wisla CANPACK against the visiting Inventa Kursk, while Frida Eldebrink lifted the spirits of KSC Szekszard with a sparkling 27 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds in a 90-56 victory against Cinkarna Celje.

    Elsewhere, a stacked Botas side came alive in the last period to win 65-82 at A3 Basket, with Elizabeth Williams impressing with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

    Another highly fancied tournament frontrunner BLMA showed their teeth and potential by beating out fellow French side Lyon by 79-63 as Opals star Sami Whitcomb chimed in with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals.
