MADRID (FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017) - Spain have opted to hand FIBA EuroBasket Women 2013 MVP Sancho Lyttle a return to the Final Round next month after the veteran missed out on last year's run to the Final of the Rio Olympics.
Back from her injury and having also missed FIBA EuroBasket Women 2015, the experienced forward will jump into the naturalized spot that has been occupied by Astou Ndour at recent events - aside from the 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Nantes.
Spain 16-player squad for FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017
| Belen Arrojo | Georgina Bahi | Maria Conde | Anna Cruz |
| Silvia Dominguez | Laura Gil | Sancho Lyttle | Laura Nicholls |
| Laia Palau | Lucila Pascua | Leonor Rodriguez | Leticia Romero |
| Beatriz Sanchez | Alba Torrens | Laura Quevedo | Marta Xargay |
The inclusion of Lyttle will certainly give the former champions a hard-nosed defensive edge as they look to reclaim the title they relinquished two years ago.
It is the backcourt that oozes real quality and strength in depth as Spain look to re-live their glorious triumph four years ago. The legendary Laia Palau is ready to play at her last tournament and she is joined by her ZVVZ USK Prague team-mate Marta Xargay, the freshly crowned Liga Femenina champion Silvia Dominguez, EuroLeague Women winner Anna Cruz and the newly drafted Leticia Romero.
One of the most interesting dimensions will be whether the newcomers such as Belen Arrojo, Georgina Bahi, Maria Conde or Beatriz Sanchez will be able to make the cut and grab themselves a FIBA EuroBasket Women debut.
