There was a bit of everything in the first two day of action, with massive upsets, big-name returns, incredible solo performances and new names making a mark with memorable debuts across the 16 fixtures on Gameday 1.
After a break on Saturday, the Qualifiers action resumes with eight games on Sunday, with the clash between Slovenia and Iceland headlining the lineup, as defending champions Spain will look to avoid going 0-2 when they face Belgium on the road after an opening-day defeat at the hands of Latvia.
Game of the Day: Slovenia vs Israel
The FIBA EuroBasket 2017 champions Slovenia opened their campaign in Group A with a win over Ukraine, as Klemen Prepelic went off for 30 points and 9 assists. Israel struggled mightily in Portugal, but still came away with a win to set up the clash for the top spot in the group with Slovenia in Ljubljana. The hosts took seventh place at the FIBA World Cup 2023 and hope to finish the first window with a strong performance in the group that also includes Portugal. For Israel, they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the World Cup but is looking for its young talent to get the country back to a 15th consecutive appearance at EuroBasket.
