NAESTVED (FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers) - Denmark switched through gears after halftime and powered away for an 82-69 win over Albania, to climb to 2-0 in Group B.
Turning point: Albania were hanging around up until the closing stages of the third quarter, but could not keep up with Denmark's hot shooting any longer than that. It was a one-possession game at 49-46 midway through Q3, before Denmark went on an 18-4 run to put more daylight between the teams. Gabriel Lundberg, Adama Darbo, Chanan Colman and Frederik Rungby combined for 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc in that stretch.
Game hero: Gabriel Lundberg was unstoppable (again)! The Danish point guard scored 17 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, and finished the game with 10 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal to his name.
Stats don't lie: Denmark were lethal from three-point area all game long. They hit 15-of-23 shots from deep before the start of Q4, finishing the game at 16-of-27 shooting. Albania were 9-of-22 from that same area, which was not bad, just not good enough to get a win in Naestved.
Game notes: Denmark finish the second window at 2-0, in pole-position before their last two games in June-July. No time to rest for Albania, they are flying to Yerevan to take on Armenia on Sunday.
They said: "We got a lot of good open shots, did the small things, executed our game plan. We tried to run at them and that went well" - Denmark player Gabriel Lundberg.
