EUROBASKET 2009, MEN
TRANSITION

Basic, effective running game that yields many easy baskets. Scoring occurs in many different ways. The ball is passed ahead to open teammates leading to penetration or open shots. On ball and early screening are used often once lay up is taken away. Trailers will set on ball or flare screen and second screen may also occur. Will make 3, 4, 5 passes before they find a good shot or driving lane.
OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

Versatile and skilled offensive players make them a dangerous scoring team. Excellent use of the on ball screen for open shots, penetration into the paint or passing to rolling post. Posts can catch and finish with great proficiency. Patience and good shots come from good spacing and decision making. Good mix of perimeter and post players and shot distribution is result.
SET PLAYS
1. Box set, point guard uses on ball and passes to post shuffle cutting down lane.

ZONE OFFENSE

Make good use of posts against the zone. Four perimeter players spread the zone and allow for open shots off penetration. Good inside/outside action due to good post passing and flashing.
OB PLAYS

OB plays come from similar set where guard screens for post to catch on sideline. Ball is reversed and post screens for inbounds passer for open shot. Different option is to back screen the post after ball reversal and down screen for the screener for open jump shot.
DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS

Use the entire floor from baseline to baseline to apply defensive pressure. Man to man full court is used often and will trap in the back court also. Very aggressive with man to man defense and will trap on ball screens to force turnovers. The blend of full and half court pressure defense keeps the offense off balance and creates turnovers. Good rebounding team on both ends.
