TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
Basically a patient half court team on offense that takes good shots regardless of the effort it takes.
They make the defense work for long possessions but will use scoring advantages if they materialize
earlier. Turnovers are not a factor because they handle it well as a team. High/low post is a feature of
their offense as is set plays. Do an excellent job of executing their sets. Team effort on the defense
end. Defenders compliment each other by helping at all times. Patient and calculated team on both
ends.

TRANSITION

Will break when the opportunity is there but are more of a half court team. When outnumbering the
defense they will throw ahead to shoot open three point shot or drive and pass to teammates
spotting up.

OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

Objective is to make the defense work for most of the shot clock. They take advantage of
mismatches and on ball screens. Prefer the drive or post feed to creating shots. Perimeter players
are aware on penetration to spot up and shoot or drive. High post players will shoot and shot fake
and drive from that area. Good passing team which leads baskets and fouls by the opponent. Patient
and deliberate but effective.

SET PLAYS

Ball dribbled to wing, then guard uses on ball screen to get to the paint or hit the roller.
Start with high post feed, then baseline runner off staggered screens and flare screen up top.
UCLA cut, ball reversal. Cutter can use single or double screen for shot.

ZONE OFFENSE

3 out 2 in set, with post in the high post. Posts can go high/low, screen up top on the ball and dive
cut through the lane with an opening. All perimeter players pass and cut and may stop in the lane to
catch return pass. Posts are good passers out of the post area.

OB PLAYS

From box set post pops out to corner to receive pass. In bounds passer cut behind for a hand off and
drives hard into the paint to create a foul or basket.

DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS

A team oriented defensive effort. Full court pressure man to man but will trap in the backcourt. When
his occurs, other players rotate up to deny or steal passes. Basically a man to man team. Aggressive
on the ball no matter where it is. Will swith all screens, hand backs and on ball screens including post
players.
