    EUROBASKET 2007, MEN

    TEAM CHARACTERISTICS
This team can really turn it up offensively and score quickly. Lead by an excellent point guard they
can score in many ways from many places on the floor. Inside/out action leads to penetration or
open shots. Transition is a staple for them and can speed the game up to their liking. Good balance
of inside and outside scorers and passers. Extensive use of on ball screens usually set up top. Set
plays are designed to free shooters with a secondary option of posting up. Can be competitive in
every game due to balance and team unity.

    TRANSITION
Transition is a big part of their offensive attack. Break quickly after a turnover or missed shot with
four or five players. Several players can rebound and lead the transition. Priorities are to throw ahead
to the post man running down the middle of the floor, driving to the hole or shooting open three
pointer or driving it to the sideline and feeding the post. Driving it to the lane is the goal on every
transition. They cause pressure on the defense if they don't get back quickly and force many fouls.

    OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES
Offensively this team has a good feel for each other on the floor. Passing is purposeful and precise.
Post players work to gain space on the block and can score or throw back out, usually to the weak
side. Point guard dominates the ball and excels coming off on ball screens. He can drive around it,
slice through defenders or shoot over the top. Hand offs, penetrate and pitch and cutting to the
basket create a lot of offensive for them. On ball screens almost every possession. Excellent
    perimeter shooting team.

    SET PLAYS
    1. Wing entry. Weak side diagonal back screen to open post.
    2. Shuffle/Double/Double. Shuffle cut on ball reversal followed by two staggered double screens.

    3. Shuffle double, big/big cross screen block to block.
    ZONE OFFENSE
Passing, cutting and high post activity make up the majority of this zone offense. Perimeter players
pass and frequently cut through the zone and can come back to same side or cut to the weak side.
High post player is crucial and makes himself available. With the ball in the high post, all four players
on the perimeter or short corner are moving into gaps. Screening is done up top and on the weak
side, using the skip pass to get the ball to the shooter.

    OB PLAYS
Side OB play begins by entering the ball and reversing it to weak side. Best scoring guard has open
side of the floor to go one on one. On the baseline, a triangle set frees a shooter with a single
screen. If no shot, reverse the ball and use on ball screens.

    DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Combination of 2-3 zone and man to man in the half court. Zone is extended beyond the three point
stripe to pressure the ball and get defletions. Do a good job of keeping the ball out of the post and
lane area. A threat to block shots at the rim in both defenses. Quickness and athleticism make for a
good half court man to man defensive team. Create many tips, steals and deflections in half court
man to man defense and convert to score quickly.
