VITORIA (ACB) - Copa del Rey winners and defending ACB champions TAU Ceramica did something this season that had never been achieved before.
They went undefeated at home in the regular season of the Spanish top flight.
Dusko Ivanovic's team, beaten in the Euroleague Quarter-Finals by Barcelona, gained partial revenge with an 83-79 triumph over the Catalans on Thursday night to clinch a 16-0 domestic campaign in Vitoria.
"The victory was very important for us in order to increase our confidence," said TAU's Argentina international point guard Pablo Prigioni.
Mirza Teletovic, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international who was MVP of their Copa triumph, led the way with 19 points.
TAU appeared to be in command at half-time but they were outscored 24-12 in the third quarter.
Ivanovic's men then turned on the jets and exploded for 26 points in the fourth quarter.
Barcelona coach Xavi Pascual said: "I congratulate Tau for the victory and for the result.
"They have been the best team in the regular season and they deserve it.
"But when you give away 26 points in the last quarter, you can never win a game in your life."
The final round of games will be played this weekend.
ViveMenorca, who are 6-23, are already relegated.
CB Murcia are 8-21 and also in the relegation zone. They have a chance to avoid the drop with a victory at Pamesa Valencia, although CAI Zaragoza (also 8-21) would also have to lose at home to iurbentia Bilbao.
Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada, meanwhile, are hoping to overtake eighth-place Ricoh Manresa and claim the last play-off spot.
Both sides are 14-15, with Fuenlabrada at home to TAU and Manresa hosting Granada.
