MADRID (2014 FIBA World Championship) – Spain have announced the intention to use its “sister cities” to fuel global interest in the 2014 FIBA World Championship if the country is selected to host the prestigious event.
Spain, China and Italy are the three candidates to stage the competition, with FIBA set to announce in May where the tournament will be.
A total of 56 cities are officially twinned with Madrid, Seville, Bilbao, Granada and Las Palmas – the cities where games will be played if the event is held in Spain.
And the Spanish Basketball Federation said: “The Local Organizing Committee of the 2014 FIBA World Championship will appoint an 'Ambassador of the 2014 FIBA World Championship ' in each of the cities (below), with the purpose of organizing two annual events related to the Championship.”
