ESP - Spain 2014 assigns more than 10 million euros in development and international cooperation in FIBA areas

MADRID (2014 FIBA World Championship) - Just as the motto "A FIBA 2014 World Championship of everyone and for every-one" reads, the FEB´s bid to host the 2014 World Championship has been as-signed a budget of more than 10 million euros for promotion, development and international cooperation, with the goal of turning this event into a platform for the growth of basketball throughout the world.

The Spanish project aims to turn the championship into a global event that will be unconditionally directed to everyone and will not ignore the difficult situation that many countries in different areas of the world are currently facing. Using the same philosophy that applies to the Sociocultural Basketball Foundation, the FEB´s bid assigns more than 10 million euros (out of a total budget of approximately 40) to support aid programs and cooperation projects, both technical and material, as well as contributions to multilateral funds, humanitarian action and collaboration with other aid organizations.

Spain 2014 wants to turn basketball and the championship in particular into a helpful tool full of values to fight shortages in many countries of the world. The pro-ject has a plan to establish an open dialogue to collaborate with the governments and national federations of the most needed countries. In addition, the project of the FEB believes that these programs of international cooperation will help to fur-ther boost the image and values of our sport.
